When you delete a category… if the category is associated with only one product… then the product will not be available in the category browsing system.  If a Product is not associated with at least one “type category” it will not be searchable.  Once the category is deleted, it cannot be recovered.   It will have to be recreated and all products will need the product associations redefined.

Final Warning:   Are you sure you wish to delete the selected category?

v  OK:  Will complete the delete operation.

v  Cancel:  Terminates the deletion process.
